We are seeing climate changes disrupt the natural balance of this “circuit of soils, plants, and animals.” Unpredictable variations in temperature and rainfall in the Southwest are creating soil erosion, water scarcity, habitat loss, and more.

The New Mexico State Library will conduct the "New Mexico Letters About Literature" competition again this school year. Children ages 13 and under as of Nov. 1 may participate in this reading and writing contest by reading a book and then writing a letter to the author explaining how his or her work shaped their perspective on the world or themselves. This is the ninth year the New Mexico State Library has sponsored the competition. The entry form, permission form, official rules, and terms of participation are available on the Letters About Literature website. All entries must be submitted by Jan. 7.

All Gallup McKinley County Schools will be on a 2-hour delay for Monday, January 3, 2022. Buses will be at the nearest paved or graveled road road to the students bus stop.
